The current flag design dates to Jan. 4, 1974. Its 14 stars, for the states and divisions of Myanmar, form a circle around a cogwheel, for industrial workers, and ears and leaves of rice, symbolizing the peasantry. Blue is for truthfulness and strength; red for bravery, unity, and determination; and white for truth, purity, and steadfastness. |
